  2. About us Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled Children Mary Our Hope is an institution for rehabilitation of special needs children. It was established, and started its work on September 5th, 2004 as a fruit of collaboration of the following: 'Pace e Bene' Association from Italy 'Medjunarodno Kumstvo Djetetu Herceg Bosne' Association from Siroki Brijeg Parents with Special Needs Children Association 'Nada' from Siroki Brijeg Siroki Brijeg District

  3. About us • The Foundation Don Carlo Gnocchi • Support in construction and equipping of our rehabilitation centre • Participation in running and rehabilitation activities • Educating the staff • Promoting,monitoring and coordinate projects

Users of treatments Children with physical and/or psychological problems are given therapy using specific methods and types of treatment, and are included in three different groups: group of children with impairment of cognitive and adaptive functioning at the level of moderate mental retardation group of children with impairment of cognitive and adaptive functioning at the level of severe mental retardation group of children with combined impairment of cognitive and adaptive functioning who are given ambulatory treatment

Users of treatments • 65 children in 3 larger groups • Individual therapies treatment – 30 children • Daily basis treatment – 35 children • A group of children that have medium handicaps– 23 children • 4 groups of 4 – 6 children • A group of children that have severe handicaps– 12 children • 4 groups of 3 – 4 children

  6. Age range • Age range is 0 to 24 years • Individual therapies treatment– 0 to 14 years of age • Daily basis treatment – 4 to 24 years of age

  8. The medical team Our staff 8 educators 2 occupational therapists 1 physical therapists Social worker Associates Psychologist Dr physiatrist Speech therapist Special education teacher Music therapist

Team meetings The disabilities of a child are being determined Therapeutic goals are being set Plan and program of work with a child is being decided on The discussion of difficulties and/or progression in therapy is being held During the last Friday in a month An overall meeting of the entire staff Educations

Structure of a day in Center Children arrive either by our bus or their parents drop them off Morning hygiene / changing diapers Snack Individual therapies Lunch Break Group or individual therapies Relaxing activities, walks, playing in the park, etc Children leave either by our bus or their parents pick them up

  13. Future goals • Forming a new occupational therapy department for clients who are above 18 years of age • Forming a new department for clients who suffer from pervasive disorders • Integration and inclusion
