  1. Malachi 3:7-3:14 “Return to Me”

  2. The Living Word Malachi 3:7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say, ‘How shall we return?’

  3. How? John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

  4. How? James 1:17,18 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. 18 of His own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

  5. The Impelling Word of God God moves us to repent/obey through His Word… The Holy Spirit then illumines the Word to us… then the Holy Spirit implants within us the desire to repent/obey… and we repent/obey and are blessed and bless others

  6. The Living Word Malachi 3:7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.

  7. Do we Return for our Sake? Malachi 3:8,9 Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you.

  8. We are to…. Return by being a blessing and by… feeding the sheep John 21:17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.

  9. How do we feed the Sheep? 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness

  10. How do we feed the Sheep? Ephesians 4:11,12 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ

  11. How do we feed the Sheep? 1 John 3:17 But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?

  12. To Consider…. James 1:27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

  13. Piecing it Together… Malachi 3:7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.

  14. Piecing it Together… We Return by…. Giving… As God uses His Word to move our Hearts to be a Blessing to Others… We return in His Power -- by His Grace

  15. The Wrong Emphasis… Malachi 3:14 You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts?

  16. We are to… Return by Giving …. To others … for their benefit… feeding the sheep… without ANY expectation of personal profit

  17. What can we do? We have many in AF who are struggling financially People need to have school supplies for their K-6 children We can potentially help...

  18. We can… Organize a single morning event in August where we have children and their parents from the community come to the church parking lot and we can give away… Backpacks • folders • crayons • paper • pencils • spiral notebooks

  19. On that day…. We can have a free lunch for all… have a fire truck available the DARE vehicle give away Bibles Children’s Bibles and literature about Christianity

  20. Why would we do this? Simply because the Lord has blessed us and we can bless other… we give without expecting return… we give as an expression of love for the Lord

  21. The Living Word Malachi 3:7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.

  22. Every-Member Ministry We work --- all of us --- as a group --- to be a blessing to others--- As an expression of Love for God through Christ
