  2. Summary • Flipped is a story told from a perspective of a young girl named Julie Baker, and a young boy named Bryce Loski. • When Bryce Loski moved into a new neighborhood with his mother, father, and sister, he wasn’t exactly expecting a girl that was caked in mud to chase him around and tackle him at first sight. As a second grader, Bryce was already mortified of this crazy girl; and couldn’t stand the chance of seeing her again. He didn’t even know the girls name. From Julie Baker’s view, there was finally a new kid moving onto her street and she was excited. She felt as if it was love at first sight as soon as she laid eyes on Bryce. • As Bryce and Julie grow older, surprisingly, their friendship grows too. Read the book Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen to discover what lies ahead for both the naughty boy Bryce and the curious girl Julie.

  3. REsponse • For my R , I drew a map of the key points of Julie and Bryce’s neighborhood and some of the main spots of where the story takes place.

  4. Exploration • For my E, I made a list of all of the other books that Wendelin Van Draanen has written. • How I Survived Being a Girl (1997) • Flipped (2001) • Swear to Howdy (2003) • Runaway (2006 • The Running Dream (2011) • The author has also written a couple series too such as the Sammy Keys series and the Gecko and Sticky series.
