  3. Graduation-Required Assessment for Diploma (GRAD) • Written Composition • Reading • Mathematics

  4. Diploma Assessments 1 Retests only 2 Districts decide at a school level which mode (online or paper) of the grade 10 Reading MCA will be administered 3 GRAD component embedded in the grade 11 Mathematics MCA

  5. Graduation Rule • Student first enrolled in grade 8 in 2005–2006 or later must meet GRAD requirements in: • Written Composition • Reading • Mathematics

  6. Written Composition GRAD • Essay written to a provided prompt • Paper administration mode only • Passing score is 3 or higher

  7. Initial Administration of Written Composition GRAD • Grade 9 • State-assigned test dates

  8. Written Composition GRAD Retests • 2012–2013 retest opportunities: • November • April (seniors only) • July • State-assigned test dates

  9. Written Composition GRAD Accommodated Test Materials • 24-point font writing prompt folder • Braille writing prompt folder

  10. Minnesota Alternate Assessment: Writing • Given to some Special Education students • Form available on the MDE website • For grade 9 only: scores entered online in the Data Entry Interface

  11. Initial Administration of Reading • Proficiency on grade 10 Reading MCA • No embedded GRAD component

  12. Other Routes to Meeting Graduation Assessment Requirements • Proficiency on grade 10 Reading MCA-Modified • Proficiency on grade 10 Reading MTAS

  13. Initial Administration of Mathematics • Embedded in the grade 11 Mathematics MCA • Proficiency on grade 11 Mathematics MCA • Pass the Mathematics GRAD component

  22. Schedule • Monthly testing window • Optional for districts • First Tuesday through Wednesday of the following week • Students are eligible to test every other month

  30. TIDE, Online Testing System, and Data Entry Interface • Set up and manage online administration in the Online Testing System • Enter student responses from paper accommodated test materials in the Data Entry Interface • View eligible students loaded into TIDE
