  2. What are Indirect Objects? Indirect objects are nouns that indirectly receive the action of a verb. Example: I wrote a letter to Anita. We made tacos for everyone.

  3. How do we find the indirect object? Find the verb in the sentence and then ask the questions: To whom / what? Or For whom / what? We planned a party for Marcela. Carlos read a story to the children.

  4. PRONOUNS • A pronoun takes the place of a noun

  5. Spanish Indirect Object Pronouns Me Nos Te Os Le Les We have used these before with the verb “GUSTAR.”

  6. Placement of I.O.Ps in a sentence: Indirect object pronouns follow the same rules of placement as direct object pronouns. • BEFORE CONJUGATED VERB or • AFTER AN INFINITIVE • AFTER A PRESENT PARTICIPLE • AFTER AN AFFIRMATIVE COMMAND

  8. Use of indirect object nouns and pronouns in the same sentence. Unlike direct objects and their pronouns, we can use both the indirect object noun and the indirect object pronoun in the same sentence. (But we do not have to) Siempre les digo la verdad a mis padres. Ellos le dan la tarea al profesor. Tomás me escribió una carta a mí. A Silvia le gustan los tamales.

  10. INDIRECT AND DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS • WHEN THERE IS AN INDIRECT AND A DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUN IN THE SAME SENTENCE…..THE INDIRECT ALWAYS COMES FIRST. • THE SAME RULES OF PLACEMENT APPLY

  11. Yo doy las aretes a ti. • Yo te las doy. • Yo voy a dartelas. • Él compra los artículos de cuero para nosotros. • Él nos los compra. • Él está comprándonoslos.

  12. If both the direct and indirect object pronouns start with L…change the indirect to se • Me Nos • Te Os • Se Se • Yo doy las aretes a María. • Yo se las doy. • Yo voy a darselas. • Yo estoy dandoselas.
