  1. Energy and Emissions Data for SOx By: Brian Ponczak Yu Kuwabara ME 449 April 22, 2002

  2. Industrial Energy Consumption The electricity sector plays a significant role in industrial energy consumption. The direct coal usage in the industrial sector has decreased, however, indirectly coal usage has stayed constant.

  3. Residential & Commercial Energy Consumption Residential & Commercial energy use has also increased steadily. Direct coal usage has been decreasing, however, indirect usage has increased Due to the electricity sector.

  4. Transportation Energy Consumption There is a strong relationship between total transportation energy and gasoline consumption.

  5. Metal Production Copper is the highest-produced metal

  6. Industrial Emission of SOx Coal contributes to a majority of SOx emission from the industrial sector

  7. Residential & Commercial Emission of SOx Coal also indirectly contributes to the majority of SOx emissions from the residential and commercial sectors

  8. Transportation Emission of SOx Transportation emission has decreased over the past 50 years due to the elimination of coal from the transportation sector.

  9. Metals Emission of SOx Copper usage produces the most SOx emissions

  10. Emission Factors for the Industrial Sector When the electricity sector is included into the industrial sector, the industrial emissions have become more efficient since 1970

  11. Emission Factors for the Residential & Commercial Sectors When electricity is included into the residential & commercial sectors there appears to be a more efficient use of fuel.

  12. Emission Factors for the Transportation Sector The transportation sector produces very little Sox emission per BTU consumed

  13. Emission Factors for Metals Sector Copper contributes the most towards Sox emission among the major metals
