  1. How to start an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Ayurveda comes from the 4th Veda, the Atharvaveda. This is the Veda that focuses on medicine and the well-being of people. Ayurveda literally translates to “science of life.” With the industrial revolution and the boom of technology, we drifted away from ayurvedic practices for a while, but now are slowly coming back to the basics. Having an ayurvedic lifestyle may seem intimidating at first, but if you know the basics having an ayurvedic daily routinedoesn’t have to be all that complicated. Ayurveda is based on the principles of balance. It states that there are three energies or doshas that govern your body - Pitta, Vata, and Kapha. When there is an imbalance in the three doshas, is when you fall ill. Similar to the gestalt movement, Ayurveda too focuses on a wholesome approach to well-being - mind and body. You don’t need complicated tonics and herbs to begin your journey into this world. Start easy with these simple day-to-day ayurvedic tips and tricks. Early to bed, early to rise. Your body detoxifies from 10 PM to 2 AM. Try to crawl into bed before that and make sure you’re well rested. Also, keep away the electronics for at least an hour before you get into bed. The blue light restricts the melatonin that is responsible for sleep. H2O, the way to go! Start your day by drinking a full glass of lukewarm water. This helps activate your internal organs, so you can function better. A glass of water in the morning will also work wonders for your skin. The best part about this practice is that it helps with bowel movements. Yes, pooping regularly is an important ayurvedic practice. When you’re clogged up, you’re playing host to a lot of toxic and unwanted waste that is just accumulating in your body. A healthy bowel movement a day will take your smile a long way!

  2. Meditate on that. Yes, it is that obvious. Meditation is an important aspect of the ayurvedic lifestyle. Just 30 minutes a day should do the trick. And it’s not rocket science either. Just sit still with your back straight and focus on your breathing. Try to block out all thoughts that come scurrying into your brain. Yes, it will be difficult at first, but after a few weeks, it becomes easier. Meditation not only helps your organs and your brain function better, but it also gets you more in tune with your own emotions which is very important to lead a balanced life. It’s all tongue and cheek. Another important aspect of Ayurveda that most people overlook is oral health. It isn’t enough to just brush twice a day. Get yourself a tongue cleaner and clean your mouth properly every day. It’s a part that accumulates food and can affect your digestive health. Try these simple day to day tips to begin your journey into Ayurveda. Once you’ve started noticing the difference, you can try something bigger. Look into Bipha Ayurveda, for products that help you be more in tune with yourself.
