  9. Los últimosestrenos(latest cinema releases) 1The cold light of day Superman-to-be Henry Cavill stars in this action thriller about a man trying to save his kidnapped family, snatched while on holiday in Spain. Investigating, he uncovers a conspiracy and must go on the run, forced to work alone against the clock. Bruce Willis – ever one to smell a kidnap plot – appears as Cavill’s father while Sigourney Weaver also has a key role.

  10. Los últimos estrenos (latest cinema releases) 2Buck This all-American documentary on horse whisperer Buck Brannamanlooks quite appealing. Brannaman was a supervisor on Robert Redford’s adaptation of Nick Evans’s ‘The Horse Whisperer’, so it stands to reason the Sundance Kid would make an appearance or two. Expect a few lump-in-the-throat moments followed, perhaps, by a few overly-impassioned fingers-down-the-throat moments too. This is America, after all.

  11. Los últimos estrenos (latest cinema releases) 3A thousand words Eddie Murphy plays Jack McCall, a fast-talking, smooth-talking literary agent, in this Hollywood comedy from the pen of Steve Koren, the writer of ‘Bruce Almighty’. McCall is forced to keep his mouth shut after he bends the truth when negotiating a book deal with a spiritual guru (Cliff Curtis). A Bodhi tree springs up unannounced on McCall’s property and with each insincere word spoken by McCall, a new leaf falls off it – the threat being that he might die if the tree loses all its leaves. Murphy has to learn the true value of communication.

  12. Los últimos estrenos (latest cinema releases) 4 Lockout Wrongly-convicted government agent Guy Pearce is offered his freedom if he can rescue the President’s daughter. A few problems: she’s in space, in a prison, that’s been overtaken by prisoners. Maggie Grace, Peter Stormare, Lennie James and Tom Hollander co-star while Luc Besson co-writes and produces this action sci-fi from James Mather and Stephen St Leger.

  13. Los últimos estrenos (latest cinema releases) 5 Playing the field Fans of the Hollywood romcom rejoice! Gerard Butler is back in the sack. In ‘Playing the Field’, Butler plays an old athlete who becomes the coach of his son’s football team – but once the bored ‘Soccer Moms’ get a look at Gerry on the pitch, he’s beating them off with a stick. Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman and Catherine Zeta-Jones are among the overqualified actresses vying for Butler’s affections, while Dennis Quaid rounds out the cast.

  14. Los últimos estrenos (latest cinema releases) 6 The Avengers Marvel superheroes gather for this all-star action film written and directed by ‘Buffy’ creator Joss Whedon. The ‘guys’ face an enemy that could destroy the world – and by ‘guys’ we mean Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), among others. Samuel L Jackson also returns to the screen as Shield director Nick Fury.

  15. Los últimos estrenos (latest cinema releases) 7 The Five-Year Engagement Producer Judd Apatowhas made another comedy about modern relationships! ‘The Five-Year Engagement’ which, like ‘The 40-Year-Old Virgin’ and ‘Knocked Up’ does what it says on the tin. Nicholas Stoller and Jason Segelplay in this comedy of misery. Segelplays Tom, whose relationship with fiance Victoria (Emily Blunt) goes through a series of changes over their epic engagement period.

  16. Los últimos estrenos (latest cinema releases) 8 House at the end of the street British director Mark Tonderai’sthriller is about a teenage daughter and her mother who move into a new house and then find that the property next door was once the scene of a double murder. Intrigue increases when the daughter (played by the excellent Jennifer Lawrence), befriends a family member who survived the killings. The film is written by David Loucka, also stars Elisabeth Shue.
