  2. Introduction Born: Jan. 29th, 1843 in Ohio, Niles. Died: Sep. 14th,1901 in Buffalo, New York Date Elected: Ohio, New York 1891. Political Party: Republican. Interesting Fact: In April 1861, the Civil War began and became the 23rd person to join.

  3. Early Life, Family and Education Family Life: 7 of the 9 children. Mother: William Father: Nancy Allison McKinley. They moved to Poland Ohio. Childhood: Was good at playing marbles, bow & arrow and flying kites. These were his most favorite things to do. Education: Family moved to Poland, Ohio. Went to school at Poland Academy. McKinley showed gifts for the public speaking. He was one of the 17 to get in to Allegheny Collage. Once he got out of college he taught school at Kerr School. This was near Poland.

  4. Family Life Married: Ida Saxton. January 25th, 1871 Children: Dec. 25th their first daughter Katherine. Died at age 3, June 3rd,1875. Baby Ida born April 1st , 1873. Died at a few months old in 1873. Interesting fact: Wife got sick over the years from seizures. She was very sick and unhappy. McKinley helped her as much as he could.

  5. The Election! McKinley’s Vice Presidents: Garret A. Hobart and Theodore Roosevelt. McKinley’s Running Mate: Garret A. Hobart Who McKinley Was Running Against: William Jennings Bryan of Nebraska. Bryan’s Running Mate: Arthur of Maine McKinley won the election by 600,000 votes!

  6. Significant Events In Presidency Issues: The Money System. The Money System supported gold standard. You could trade paper money for gold. Issues: Free Silver System. You could get a number of silver coins made for you.

  7. Life Accomplishments Accomplishments: McKinley singed the Dingley Tariff Act on July 24th, 1897 Another Accomplishments: McKinley singed the Gold Standard Act with a special gold pen.

  8. Interesting Facts McKinley was burred in Ohio. His last words were “ Goodbye all, it’s Gods way. His will, not ours to be done.” McKinley was elected governor of Ohio in 1891. 3. In Sep. 1901, Leon F. Czolgosz shot McKinley at Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York.
