  2. Introduction There are many different groups that believe in the potlatch masks. They are all spread over the Northwestern America. Below are three groups that are believes in the Potlatch masks: 1. Kwakiutl people 2.The Shamans 3.The Kwawala

  3. Location The groups of the Potlatch people are located all over Northwestern America.

  4. Special name for the masks • The special name is just called the Potlatch.

  5. How the masks were used? Potlatch was a ceremonial feast among the coastal people of the Pacific Northwest with music and dancing and gift-giving among local clans or tribes. These Potlatch masks were held by certain prominent members of coastal tribes and clans of the Pacific Northwest in the United state and British Columbia in Canada.

  6. The Symbolism of the mask • The mask they wear is mean  "to give away" or "a gift“ in Chinook Jargon language. • They believe that if they wear on the mask, the person will be another person or creature.(that means that they are not the same person anymore)

  7. How are the masks made? • They are made of wood and some hard materials. It is made by the People that believe in it, and the masks are mostly ravens becauseravens are a central character in Northwest Coast stories.
