  1. NHAI Waives Off Toll Fees at 3 Kerala Toll Plazas Having received the highest rainfall in 100 years, Kerala has faced menacing floods and has even been assigned the status of a national calamity. The flood has caused the death of over 350 people in a fortnight, and about 82400 have been rescued. Over a million people have been put up in various relief camps all over the state. Many of Kerala’s affected regions have been placed on high alert. The heavy rain and the flood have caused the landslides as well in many regions of Kerala, thus destroying roads. According to Kerala Chief Minister, Shri Pinaraya Vijayan, about 10000 km of roads have been affected, which have caused a loss of Rs 4441 crores. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), keeping in consideration the current state of affairs in Kerala, has not only planned to take up the road reconstruction process in a joint venture with PWD, but it has also suspended the toll fees at three toll plazas in Kerala. The toll plazas are located in Paliekkara in Thrissur district, Pampampallam in Palakkad district and Kumbalam in Cochin. The abnormal rainfall has caused severe damages to many highways, including stretches of NH 544 near Avula. NHAI will hold this waiver till 26th August. #NHAI #Tollfee #Keralafloods #Tollplazas
