  1. NHAI to Make Shiradi Ghat Operational in the Coming Week Shiradi Ghat, a stretch along NH 75 that connects Mangalore to Bangalore, has long been slated to be operational. In a recent meeting between the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari and the Member of Parliament from Dakshina Kannada, Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shri Gadkari has directed the National Highways Authority of India to complete the remaining work of Shiradi Ghat and make it functional in the upcoming week and open for traffic. The meeting, which was held on 27th August in New Delhi, was attended by senior NHAI officials, authorities of Navayug, the concessionaire for the 4-laning project between Talapady and Kundapur, elected representatives and the concerned secretaries. The meeting saw the discussion of various highway issues in Dakshina Kannada. A group of engineers have confirmed that Shiradi Ghat can be opened up to light traffic, including passenger buses. Since there are many points on that stretch which are frequently prone to accidents due to heavy rains and landslides, the National Highways Authority of India has directed a strict one-way traffic at 12 such locations, restricting heavy-duty vehicles till the necessary safety precautions are implemented. The Managing Director of Navayug has confirmed that the firm will be completing the unfinished flyover projects at the Pumpwell (Mahavir) Circle and Thokkottu in the next 3 months to allow streamlined flow of commuters. #ShiradiGhat #Navayug #NHAI #MangaloretoBangalore
