  3. Explanation of curriculum changes • ‘Individualised Study Programme’ process • Questions and refreshments

Curriculum changes • Focussing the curriculum in Y9 • Opportunity to concentrate on subjects more likely to be studied in Y10/11 including Ebacc subjects. • These are not the final GCSE choices • In Y9 there will be an options process and students will decide upon their final choices for Y10 and 11.

English Baccalaureate (EBacc) English Baccalaureate To achieve the EBacc you will need to achieve GCSEs at a grade C, or equivalent, in: • Maths • English • GCSE Sciences (including Computer Science) • History or Geography • French or Spanish. There is an increasing importance being placed on EBacc subjects.

  6. Compulsory subjects English Language and Literature Maths Science PE ICT

  7. History or Geography • All students will study History or Geography or both

  8. Languages • Continue with French or Spanish or Litnum (as they are now). • Change language. • Pick up a 2nd MFL .

  9. Optional Geography RE Music Technology (2 choices) Art Computer Science MFL (2nd Language) History

  10. Technology • Wide range of choices. • Select 2 from the list given. • Process done by Technology Department. • Choices take place in the Summer term. • Only allowed 1 ‘block’ of technology

  11. The Process • Y8 Assembly • Information leaflet sent home • Students to discuss choices at home, with tutors and subject teachers • Students to decide on final choices and complete form • Form to be signed by student, parent and tutor • Choices put into the system.

  15. FAQs • Will my child be guaranteed all their options? • If my child chooses food and textiles for technology, will these be guaranteed? • If my child drops art, for example, can they pick it up for GCSE? • Where can my child find out about careers?
