  3. PEM Electrolyzer Fuel Cell • Electrolyzer function: • When applying an electrical current from solar panel or battery or DC power, the electrolyzer produces hydrogen and oxygen from distilled water. • - Input Voltage: 1.8 V ~ 3 V (D. C.), • - Input Current: 0.7 A, • - Hydrogen production rate: 7 ml per minute at 1 A, • - Oxygen production rate: 3.5 ml per minute at 1 A.

  4. Preparation of the Electrolyzer and Solar Powered Hydrogen Production • 1. Place the plastic tube with the blackpin into the top pin on the hydrogen side (with blackterminal). Place the other plastic tube with the red pin into the top pin on the oxygen side (with red terminal).

  5. Preparation of the Electrolyzer and Solar Powered Hydrogen Production • 2. Fill the syringe with distilled water. On the red (oxygen) side of the electrolyzer, connect the syringe to the uncapped tube. Fill the electrolyzer until water begins to flow out of the tube. Place a red plug into the short tube located on the Oxygen side of electrolyzer. Let settle for 3 min.

  6. Preparation of the Electrolyzer and Solar Powered Hydrogen Production • 3. Place the outer water/gas containers onto a flat surface. Fill with distilled water up to the "0" line. • 4. Connect the other end of one of the tubes to the bottom end of the black hydrogen side of theelectrolyzer. Connect the end of the other tube to the bottom end of the red oxygen side of theelectrolyzer.

Connect the electrolyzer to the solar panel using the corresponding cables and expose to direct sunlight.You can also use a two AA batteries (1.5 V) to connect to the elecrolyzer as well. Important: make sure connections are correct or permanent damage can occur.

If the solar panel is placed in sufficiently strong sunlight, or battery pack is switched to the “On” position the system will now start to produce oxygen and hydrogen in the respective cylinders. • 7. When bubbles begin to surface of the water in the hydrogen cylinder the cycle is complete. Disconnect the solar panel or battery pack from the electrolyzer.

  9. Intelligent Fuel Cell Car • The Horizon Fuel Cell Car (FCJJ-11) is an active demonstration of how hydrogen can be stored and utilized for power generation. Using the PEM fuel cell provided with the kit, hydrogen can be produced and stored to power the car and operate the lights and the Intelligent Fuel Cell Car automatically turns when the car hits a barrier.
