Introduction • It was first announced on June 1st, 2009 at E3 2009 • It is expected to release in late 2010 • Natal will reportedly be included with all the new Xbox360 consoles • Natal is code name for “Controller-free gaming and entertainment experience • The product is aimed at broadening the Xbox360’s typically hardcore gamer base

Sensor Bar -Project Natal uses a sensor bar to detect human motion -The bar includes two high-definition and depth recognizing cameras -The cameras provide full-body 3D motion, facial recognition, and voice recognition -It is designed to be positioned length-wise, above or below the TV -The depth sensor consists of a infrared projector combined with a mono-chrome SMOS sensor, which allows the sensors to see in 3D under any ambient light conditions

Software -The Project was created to promote “off the couch play” similar to the Nintendo Wii. -The games will incorporate full body motion directly into the game play. -Racing games will have you take hold of an invisible steering wheel and put your foot on an invisible peddle. -Some demo games introduced at the E3 2009 included games in which you use your body to block incoming balls, like a soccer goalie, and painting games where you throw balls of paint to make a mural. -It is expected that Natal will take over third-party gaming companies upon its release.
