The Beatitudes. The Attitudes Jesus Wants Us to “Be”. Jesus Teaches Us How to live a Blessed Life. To be blessed is to have the deep joy that comes from being close to Jesus. Blessed are the Pure in heart. To love God with our whole selves.

  3. Jesus Teaches Us How to live a Blessed Life To be blessed is to have the deep joy that comes from being close to Jesus.

  4. Blessed are the Pure in heart • To love God with our whole selves • Seek to please God in all of our words and our actions

  5. Blessed are the poor in spirit • Be humble • Trust in God for everything • Not focus upon material things

  6. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted • People mourn, or are sad, because of loss or suffering. • Those who mourn with others care deeply. • They reach out to others and help. • Jesus blesses us when we care and help others.

  8. Blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy • The Bible, or Scripture, tells us that God is merciful. • God’s mercy is his deep, unconditional love for us. • God’s mercy includes forgiveness but goes far beyond that.

  9. Blessed are the merciful for they shall receive mercy • Try to love as God does • See all people as God’s beloved children, including self. • Care for the needs of others.

  10. Corporal Works of Mercy • Corporal means bodily • Caring for the bodily or physical needs of others • Jesus calls us to care for others as if for him. • “Whatever you did for these least brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25)

  11. Corporal Works of Mercy • Feed the hungry • Give drink to the thirsty • Comfort the sick • Shelter the homeless • Bury the dead • Clothe the naked • Visit the prisoner
