  2. Birth -1806. • Juarez was born on March 21, 1806. • Juarez was born in the village of San Pablo Guelatao. • March 21st is a Nation Holiday in Mexico to celebrate Juarez.

  3. San Pablo Guelatao , Oaxaca This is the village Benito Juarez was born in. The mountains in the back are named Sierra Juárez.

  4. Childhood-1809 Juarez’s parents, MarcelinoJuárez and BrígidaGarcía, were peasants. They died when Juarez was three years old in 1809. When his parents died, he and his sister (Rosa) were cared for by thier grandfather, Pedro Juarez, and grandmother, Justa Lopez, who were Zapotec Indians that lived in the Zapotec Nation.

  5. Childhood This is Monte Alban. It is the capital city of the Zapotec Nation. Juarez lived here with his grandparents.

  6. December 17, 1818 When Juarez was 12, he ran away from his house and fled on foot to the city of Oaxaca. He lodged in the house of Don Antonio Maza, where his sister, MarίaJosėfa, was working as a cook.

  8. Exiled in 1853 • In 1853 the conservatives took power in Mexico and many liberals were exiled. This included Juarez, who spent his time of exile in New Orleans.

  9. La Reforma represented the triumph of Mexico's liberal forces over the conservative forces. The statue is located in New Orleans where Juarez was exiled.

  10. Best Known as… Juarez is best known as a presidential hero of Mexico. He spent 1858-1872 as president of Mexico.Benito Juarez was the first Mexican leader who did not have a military background. He was also the first and only Indian to be president of Mexico.

  12. Sep 16, 1889 • In 1889, Juarez went back to Mexico City. El Paso del Norte changed its name to Ciudad Juarez in his honor. However, the city of Franklin was then renamed El Paso.

  13. Ciudad Juarez This is the city of Ciudad Juarez. It was named after Benito Juarez. It is known for being “the most violent zones in the world outside of declared world zones.”

  14. Death-1872 Juarez died on July 17, 1872. The cause of death was heart failure(stroke). He died in Palacio Nacional, Mexico City, Mexico.

I transferred my powerpoint to my home computer from the school computer and some how all my picture slides were deleted, but I saved all my sources on my wiki. I got all the sources, but I have no idea what source goes with what piece of information. >:0 FAIL!
