  2. Purpose for Coordinating the Program • To address complex issues of college students in an non-threatening environment. • To foster open dialogue with students as to how they respond or cope with academic and personal challenges.

  3. Selection Of Topics Topics were selected based on the following: • Comments and recommendations from students received during the Fall 2004 group sessions held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the residential housing. • Literature review which addressed student life and life-limiting challenges as perceived by the student(s).

  4. Focus • To provide an opportunity for university housing students to explore/address a new sense of coping with academic and personal challenges. • To remove barriers which hinder student success (retention and graduation).

  5. Workshop Locations • Lanier East • Lanier West • Greystone • University Courtyard (which includes Tierwester Oaks)

  6. PASSPORT Book + 3 Meetings = Grand Prize

PASSPORT • Terms and Conditions • How to Enter: • Winners must be a resident of the participating housing facility. • Winners will be chosen through a drawing. • University Housing residents must participate in a minimum of three (3) educational group workshops to be eligible for the drawing: • Personal Safety • Making Choices • How to Handle Academic Demands • Developing a Sense of Satisfaction • University Housing residents must receive one stamp, from the workshop presenter, at the end of each workshop attended. • Prizes: • 1st Prize - $100.00 (Bookstore Voucher) • 2nd Prize - $ 60.00 (Bookstore Voucher) • 3rd Prize – Pizza Party (for 10 guests) • Additional prizes will be given for participation in remaining activities at each University Housing location

Professional Support • John Forbin, Director of Housing – coordinates meeting arrangements, food, door prizes, photographer. • Vickie Johnson, M.A., Counselor/Case Manager, Center On The Family – provides group facilitation and individual/group counseling. • Staff from various university departments and volunteers from community resources.
