  3. Basics Title:Development of New Framework for the M.Sc. Thesis Work Duration:15 Dec 1999 - 14 Dec 2001 Partners: 1, UJ University of Jyväskylä (SF) 2, AUEB Athens University of Economics and Business (GR) 3, KhTURE Kharkov Technical University of Radioelectronics (UKR)

The Specific Objective To develop new framework for management of students’ M.Sc. thesis work and the procedure of assigning the M.Sc. degree to students in order to: • guarantee the academic independence for students; • evaluate theoretical and applied thesis; • provide credit-based evaluation for internal courses, taken at the partner university; • provide credit-based evaluation for practical placements of students; • allow credit transfer from other universities; • assign the M.Sc. degree under the credit-based framework

Target Problems - To Develop • a new framework for the M.Sc. thesis work in KhTURE based on students group work and on the principle of academic independence; • a plan to reorganize work of all appropriate university's academic and administrative offices and departments in accordance with the new framework and towards internationalization of the University; • the new methodology and the new criteria for the M.Sc. thesis work evaluation in accordance with the new framework; • necessary agreements with partner universities towards international exchange within M.Sc. thesis work; • educational supplies and other materials which are necessary to apply the new framework.

  6. Outcomes 1. The set of Manuals for management of students’ M.Sc. thesis work 2. The set of Manuals for accounting credits for courses and projects 3. The set of Manuals for management of students practical placements (2nd year) 4. Dissemination of project results at the local and international level (2nd year) 5. Management of the project

Outcome 1 Developing the set of Manuals for management of students M.Sc. thesis work • Scheme for supervisor and topic selection • Scheme of research seminars • Instruction for preparing the thesis • Instruction for reviewing, recommendations for defence • Evaluation criteria for theoretical and applied courses

  8. Outcome 2 Developing the set of Manuals for accounting credits for courses and projects • The model of a diploma’s grade list (academic certificate, appendix) • Instruction for assigning credits for internal courses and distance courses

  9. Outcome 3, 2 year Developing the set of Manuals for accounting credits for internal and external practical placements • program of practical placements • the instruction for assigning credits for internal and external practical placements

  10. Outcome 4, 2 year Dissemination workshops • ‘Instructions for accounting credits and M.Sc. thesis management’ in the partner country for local dissemination
