The Model - Workplace Evaluation Framework • A criteria based framework to evaluate Workplace Training Systems at an employer • Built on good practice training principles • Uses a simple three step rating scale • Based on objective evidence • Feedback to the workplace provides opportunities for development • National consistency in evaluation findings • Uses conversational auditing style • Programme is based on incentives, not punishments

  7. Evaluation Framework Assumptions • It’s the workplace training system that is being evaluated. Not the training content, and not the trainee. • The evaluation framework relies on trained and suitably experienced auditors • Auditors follow good practice in systems auditing • Conversational approach is most effective • Auditors judgements are calibrated through peer group referencing

Conclusions – so far • Programme very well received by participants. • Process, and feedback to the client is highly valued. • Incentive based framework will cause employers to become more involved • Effective framework will promote better trainee management in the workplace • Programme represents a market edge for the employer • Higher completion rates are good for all stakeholders
