When one extends periodicity, the dial needs to be calibrated to reveal the added features throughout the period, and an added hand may additionally be needed. For instance, to suit a weekly period, the days of the week are published in radial fashion in the dial facility, and the extra hand rotates to the next day at midnight. Other dials are adjusted for the other extensions.
