  2. Question • How does the amount of mass dropped from the end of four rubber bands affect how far the rubber bands stretch?

  3. How will you vary the I.V.? How will you measure the D.V.? • Range of weights: 10 to 200 grams • 10, 20, 20, 50, 100, 200, 200 gram weights • Do not exceed 400 grams • Rounding or “It’s about ____” is NOT ACCEPTABLE • Be accurate to the nearest centimeter • You have many people/eyes in your group, use them • Do everything in your power to keep the weights from hitting anything! • DUH – “More weights will stretch the rubber bands further.” • If you double (or triple or halve) the weight, what happens? Hypothesis

  4. Procedure • Step by step what you do / will do • How many times will you test each mass? • More Trials = More Accurate • How are all the pieces attached? (Describe or draw) • Where are the weights being dropped from? • In this case, the bottom of the weight should be level with the bottom of the crossbar when dropped

  5. Discussion • Address the question: • What is the relationship between weights and stretch? • Back up your answer with actual data • Does this make sense? Why or why not? • What are some things that would make your data or experiment better if you were to repeat it? • Be specific • It is usually not helpful to mention things you cannot control (time, people in your group, etc.)

  6. Conclusion • One or two sentences summarizing the experiment and the results.
