Pocket Projectors: All-in-one Solution for Mobility, Augmentation, Communication

Mitsubishi Electric's pocket projectors offer an ultimate personal display solution. These DLP-based projectors with RGB LEDs provide instant-on capability and are battery-powered for maximum portability. With the ability to overlay images on real objects, they are perfect for augmented reality applications. However, they can be affected by ambient bright light and display surface reflectance. The Aware Projector, introduced in Siggraph 2004, combines photosensing, RFID, and handheld projection to enable interactive stabilized projection and geolocation. The concept of "personal" display is explored, with shrinking portable devices that carry more data and the opportunity to switch between personal and public modes. The Pocket Projector is a modular, all-in-one device that can be used for various display applications and allows for communication with the tagged world through RFID and sensors. Collaboration is made easier with shared projection capabilities.
