  2. Overview • As a team, there are many opportunities to meet the needs of students who are high-ability or high-achieving. Next year, we will continue to work to include these opportunities in: • Projects • Stations • Homework • Technology

Universal Design for Learning • UDL is a set of principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn. • UDL provides a blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone--not a single, one-size-fits-all solution but rather flexible approaches that can be customized and adjusted for individual needs.

  4. Language Arts • Chapter and higher level books • Higher level comprehension questions and packets • Literature Circles • Differentiated vocabulary and homework • Spelling: challenge words relating to units • Exploring projects more deeply • Accelerated Reader Program • Writing

  5. Math • Everyday Math Curriculum: challenge games • Online Math Activities • Real life application through projects • Peer teaching • Higher grade level skills links/differentiated activities • Writing about math strategies/problem solving

  6. Speaking and Listening • Technology skills • Leading in class- station roles • Collaboration • Town hall meeting organization and presentation • Presenting ideas and projects • Public speaking • Problem solving

K, 1st, 2ndGrade Projects 2013-2014 • United Way Community Project (2nd graders were awarded the 2013 GIVE Award for their work on this project) • Farmer’s Market – product design and creation • Fireman’s Cheer Fund (Kindergarten collected 1,001 toys to donate last year) • Toys for Indy Zoo Animals
