    3. What’s Philmont? Experience of a lifetime! Boy Scout High Adventure Camp Located in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Northeast New Mexico Serves 24,000 people over the summer

    4. This is not just summer camp! This is NOT “summer camp” health care! Trauma Encounters with flora and fauna Medical/Surgical emergencies Appendicitis MI Acute mountain sickness Asthma crises Hypothermia Dehydration Psychiatric crises And the usual minor illnesses seen in children/adults

    5. Responsibilities Drive to back country and assist in patient assessment Participate in Search and Rescue operations Assist in care of Health Lodge patients Assist in health assessment of incoming campers

    6. Radio Communication Respond to radio calls to the Health Lodge Initial triage of patient situations Health Lodge chores

    7. Academic opportunity Participate in teaching rounds Attend teaching lectures Interaction with faculty physicians

    8. Benefits to you Stipend is provided Room (dormitory housing) and board provided On days off, access to Philmont for hiking/backpacking Opportunity for limited patient care activity
