ITNW 1458 Network+ Prereq: None Course Description:  Presents information needed to prepare for and take the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Network+ certification exam and for a career as a network professional. End-of-Course Outcomes:  Identify and define terminology, hardware, and software components of computer networks; utilize equipment, protocols, and topologies to differentiate between various network systems; demonstrate skills in installing network hardware, software, and cable; troubleshoot network connectivity; configure network protocol; and install and configure network client software.

ITNW 1416 Network Administration Prereq: None Co-req: ITNW 1458 (If iPod desired when first enrolling) Course Description:  An introduction to Network administration as applied to Microsoft Server 2008. Emphasis will be on the MS Windows Server environment. Presents information needed to prepare for and take the MCTS Exam 70-642. End-of-Course Outcomes:  Management of directory services; access to network services, configuring file and print services; IP address and name resolution and services.

    7. ITNW 2454 Internet/Intranet Server Prereq: None Course Description: Designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and managing an Internet/Intranet server. Configure Domain Name System (DNS), configure Active Directory. Emphasis will be on the MS Windows Server environment. Presents information needed to prepare for and take the MCTS Exam 70-640. End-of-Course Outcomes:  Configure Active Directory, setup users, groups, policies, and profiles, hardware component and application configuration, administration of security for users, files and printers, client configuration and optimization, administration and configuration of server roles and core configuration.

ITNW 1454 Implementing and Supporting Servers Prereq: None Course Description: Implement, administer, and troubleshoot information systems that incorporate servers in a networked computing environment. Emphasis will be on the MS Windows Server environment. Presents information needed to prepare for and take the MCTS Exam 70-646. End-of-Course Outcomes:  Configure peripherals and devices; set up servers; configure directory replication; manage licensing; create and manage system policies, and profiles; administer remote servers and disk resources; create and share resources; implement fault-tolerance; configure servers for interoperability; install and configure Remote Access Service (RAS); and identify and monitor performance bottlenecks and resolve configuration problems.

ITSY 1442 Information Technology Security Prereq: None Course Description: Instruction in security for network hardware, software, and data, including physical security; backup procedures; relevant tools; encryption; and protection from viruses. Presents information needed to prepare for and take the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Security+ certification exam. End-of-Course Outcomes: National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Guidelines and other best practices; develop backup procedures to provide for data security; use network operating system features to implement network security; identify computer and network threats and vulnerabilities and methods to prevent their effects; use tools to enhance network security; and use encryption techniques to protect network data.
