What is Adulthood??19 and OverDamnnn Ur Getting Old!!! • Its when your physical growth has stopped and you are fully developed • The state and responsibilities of a person has now reached maturity • Compulsory education has now finished….. So ur freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
Physical…. Physical Development – people are at the height of their physical powers and at their reproductive peak. As people enter their 40s: • Men may start to lose their hair • Eyesight begins to deteriorate • Skin loses elasticity so wrinkles appear • Women continue to have periods until about 45 years old when they reach the menopause (fertility declines) • Sperm production in men declines although they can continue to father children in to their 80s
Intellectual…. • Intellectual development will keep your brain thinking and will motivate you to carry out a variety of life skills. • At this stage adults have now finished school and college and should have now either thought about; or have a job which will support their future. • Being able to use a computer and other technology, is crucial at this stage as many jobs now days require these skills. • Some intellectual tasks include… • Reading, writing, watching TV, Listening to the radio and completing puzzles or quiz's
Emotional…. • Emotionally adults look for steady and satisfying relationships. This is the stage when couples have children • They will also have greater intimacy skills • Some may try and achieve their goals in life • They are now at the stage of coming to terms with there body image
Social…. • Adults at this stage will now feel comfortable socializing with new people • There can be many changes in adults social life especially when children come along. This is also the period when many experience stress at home or at work.
CASE STUDY • David and Victoria have been married for ten years. They have two children, Brooklyn and Romeo. David, has a very stressful job as a football player, In comparison, Victoria recently lost her job as a fashion designer for her label VB.
