  5. Learning Objectives Learning Objective 4.0:Participant will be able to identify the appropriate uses of deadly force as defined by court decisions. The student will be able to identify the typical post shooting reactions by officers and their departments including psychological and investigative responses. The student will be able to demonstrate on a written objective type examination an understanding of this area to a specified percentage.

  6. Learning Objective 4.1: Participant will be able to identify issues that should be addressed in an agency's deadly force policy. Learning Objective 4.2: Participant will be able to identify the fleeing felon rule established in common law. Learning Objective 4.3: Participant will be able to identify key elements of the most significant court case(s) concerning the use of deadly force.

  7. Learning Objective 4.4: Participant will be able to identify three psychological reactions that officers often experience following a shooting incident. Learning Objective 4.5: Participant will be able to identify the 5 phases of transition that persons who experience traumatic events typically go through. Learning Objective 4.6: Participant will be able to identify various post-shooting services available to officers.
