  1. Community Partnership Fund 2011

  2. Community Partnership Fund… is a grant matching program that was established by Council in 2000. Since its inception, the program has given out over $2 million dollars of funding that has resulted in projects worth over $9 million occurring in Chatham-Kent. In 2011, $125,000 was distributed to Mainstream projects and over $91,000 was given out to Festival and Events. Total projects completed this year can be valued to be worth over $1.1 million. The following are some of those projects…..

  3. Retrofest Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent A celebration of the classic car culture in Chatham-Kent.  Retrofest has been named one of Ontario’s top 100 festivals.

  4. Selkirk History Faire Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent! The Faire is a free event which promotes local history and education in a “hands on” entertaining way.  Music of the time, highland dancing, Irish dancing, storytelling, artillery demonstrations, candle making, rope making, highland band and the encampment life offered a way to experience history with all the senses.

  5. Canada D’eh! The celebration’s attendance grows every year with increasing community participation in all areas of the event and 2011 was no exception! 10,000 to 15,000 residents enjoying the park during the day and up to 20,000 residents watching the fireworks. Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!

  6. Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres Community Health Centres, in partnership with Goodwill Industries and the Community Partnership Fund, launched the Re-Active program in Chatham-Kent.  The primary goal of the Re-Active program is to increase physical activity in our community. The Re-Active program will provide physical activity essentials and equipment to those who cannot afford it. Community Impact: Healthy, Active Citizens

  7. Dresden Agricultural Society - Exhibition The Dresden Agricultural Society with help from the Community Partnership Fund and others were able to hold the Dresden Exhibition, a family event where everyone was able to come out and enjoy. Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!

  8. Buxton Labour Day Homecoming - 2011 Homecoming Celebrations occur annually since 1924. This year people enjoyed historical re-enactments, a baseball tournament, history / genealogy conference, parade and more…. Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!

  9. Chatham-Kent & Lambton Children’s Water Festival The Water Festival is a fun, educational event designed to teach students about the protection and conservation of water resources. Through interactive activity centres, students are challenge to consider the importance of water to themselves and their community. Community Impact: Supporting Healthy, Active Citizens

  10. Wheatley Fish Festival The Annual Wheatley Fish Festival is a weekend full of events. Wheatley Idol, pet parade, fishing derby, art in the park…so many activities all packed into just one weekend…. Community Impact: Supporting Healthy, Active Citizens

  11. Dresden Agricultural Society - Jamboree The Dresden Agricultural Society with help from the Community Partnership Fund and others were able to create a family event where everyone was able to enjoy some musical entertainment.  Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!

  12. Blenheim Cherryfest Cherries….and rides….and entertainment….oh my! For over 50 years, Blenheim has been hosting Cherryfest. Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!

  13. Blenheim and District – Canada Day in the Park Over 1,200 people celebrated Canada Day with entertainment, food, family games and of course a fireworks display… Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!

  14. Dresden Sidestreets – Community Street Dance From toddlers to seniors….everyone enjoyed the community street dance that was organized by the youth of Dresden… Community Impact: Supporting Healthy, Active Citizens

  15. Wallaceburg Canada Day Celebrations The event’s goal was to provide “a special day for Canada and the residents of the Wallaceburg area”….. Community Impact: Supporting Healthy, Active Citizens

  16. Polka in the Park The 10th annual event was designed to promote polka music and dancing in the hopes of contributing to our multi-cultural community. Community Impact: Supporting Healthy, Active Citizens

  17. CK Youth Festival The CK Youth Festival featured hands-on and exciting activities for children and youth that pushes the limits of creativity! Tecumseh Park was alive with clowns, tents, inflatables and more! Community Impact: Supporting Healthy, Active Citizens

  18. Dances in the Park Dances in the Park is an outdoor dance festival held in Tecumseh Park and features local choreographers and performers. Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!

  19. United Way – Teaching Kitchen This kitchen provides an opportunity to teach people the importance of good nutrition and the techniques on how to cook nutritious meals…. Community Impact: Growth through Variety of Post Secondary Institutions

  20. Chatham Y Sharks – Timing System The timing system helps to promote the sport of swimming ….Chatham-Kent will be hosting the year-end championship in April 2012. Community Impact: Healthy, Active Citizens

  21. Mary Webb Centre – Concert Series The concert series hosted many wonderful and talented artists….. Community Impact: Destination Chatham-Kent!

  22. Merlin Senior Citizens Friendship Club - Renovations With the funds provided, the Merlin Senior Citizens Friendship Club was able to complete some much needed renovations to the club building…. Community Impact: Healthy, Active Citizens

  23. Rotary Sunshine Club – Bike Racks The project aims to encourage active lifestyles and sustainable communities through the installation of bicycle racks at not-for-profit organizations that benefit the community at large. Community Impact: Healthy, Active Citizens

  24. Lanoue House Restoration This house is one of the earliest structures in the area, dating to the late 1850s.  Because of the heritage significance of the property, the Tilbury and District Historical Society wanted to restore the home to its appearance circa 1880.  Several features of the house can be directly linked to the Francophone culture.

  25. Ridgetown Golf and Country Club Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club felt that they needed to have their facilities accessible to all members of the community.  With the help of the Community Partnership Fund, this organization was able to add a ramp to the front main entrance to the building and able to renovate the men's washroom to improve accessibility. Community Impact: Supporting Healthy, Active Citizens

  26. Wheatley Soccer Field Due to drainage issues, children missed their scheduled games or played in wet field conditions that were less fun and safe for them.  Thanks to the help of the Chatham-Kent Partnership Fund, the Wheatley Minor Soccer, and several area organizations, the soccer field has been renovated.  This project will encourage youth and families within the community to continue to participate in recreational activities. Community Impact: Supporting Healthy, Active Citizens

  27. Two Creeks Summer Concert Series Their summer concert series runs most Sunday nights from late June to the end of August.  All concerts are held in their outdoor amphitheatre which makes for a wonderful setting to enjoy a broad range of musical acts that they present each year.  Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!

  28. Theatre Kent Sings Theatre Kent established a singing company last year in the hopes of offering a service to the Chatham-Kent community. However, they did not have the proper equipment to proceed.  With the help of the Community Partnership Fund, they were able to purchase necessary equipment. Community Impact: Supporting Destination Chatham-Kent!
