  2. Every one of us has had days when all that we want to do is to laze around, prop ourselves on the couch, and watch a movie or two. So many has had these days that Netflix hit the 130 million mark in its number of subscribers. Nowadays, almost everyone has access to just about any movie; at a low price. But wait, what if it's for free?

  3. That's what recently happened on Youtube. In the movie section of its site, Youtube is now showing some Hollywood film selections for free streaming. Films such as "Rocky" and "The Terminator" can now be watched without any cost. However, they are ad-supported. A recent viewing of "The Terminator" showed ads from TJ Maxx and Lactaid, for example. Though Youtube did not disclose how it shared ad revenues to the films' respective studios, it seems that this action is part of its efforts to offer more premium video for advertisers. That also shows that the competition for ad-supported video-on- demand (VOD) is intensifying, as more and more users are discovering ways to prevent encounters with advertisements. That means advertisers are seeking ideas for their brands to appear and appeal to more people.

  4. Aside from offering Hollywood movies for free, Youtube is also focusing more on original programming, which is an effective way for video streaming services to stand out among their competitors. As of now, Youtube is testing a new programming distribution model for Youtube Premium, which includes improving their selection of exclusive content in order to attract subscribers. Once again, some of these are subscription-based, but others are ad-supported. So, will Youtube beat Netflix to it and attract more users by offering free movies? Tell us your thoughts!
