  9. Consensogram A consensogram identifies baseline knowledge or opinion of a group on selected concepts or issues. It can be used as pre- and post- assessment or evaluation.

  10. Consensogram How to: • Identify and name the issue or concept. • Determine the scale • Provide each person with a coding dot and instructions to use the dot to indicate current level of knowledge (understanding, commitment, etc.).

  15. ISSUE BIN An Issue Bin captures ideas and questions that deserve further discussion or clarification at a later or more appropriate time. It provides the opportunity for all members of the group to anonymously comment or question without interrupting the established time frame.

ISSUE BIN How to: • Label a chart of bulletin board Bin or Parking Lot. • Place post-it notes and pencils or markers near the chart for recording Bin items. • Communicate to students that the Bin will be a place where members of the class (including the teacher) can anonymously raise issues, questions or concerns.

It provides a foundation for identifying “next steps.” Plus / Delta is used to identify strengths (+) of a particular process as well as opportunities for improvement (r).

  25. Affinity Diagram The affinity diagram is used to gather large amounts of information and consolidate data into groupings based on relationships. It is a creative process drawing on intuition as well as logic and encourages anticipation from all class members by encouraging anonymity.

  29. Affinity Diagram How to: • As a group, identify and name the issue. • Individually and silently record single responses on a single Post-it note. • Post all notes on a large piece of chart paper or bulletin board.

  30. Affinity Diagram How to: • Take turns grouping like responses together. • When everyone is satisfied with the groupings, label the group of Post-it notes. • Reach agreement that the labels reflect the key ideas of the class.

  31. Affinity Diagram Another way to present the diagram is by giving students/stakeholders the labels ahead of time, so that they can place Post-it notes under each category.

Activity • On your own, write down the four biggest concerns that parents would have at the beginning of the year. • Write each concern on a post-it note. • As a table group of 4 discuss the concerns that are on the notes. • Then, categorize the concerns under common labels. • Each table group needs to report out.

  37. Force Field Analysis The Force Field Analysis method is used to identify those forces that help and those that could hinder or prevent a group from closing a gap between where we are now and where we want to be.

Force Field Analysis How to: • Identify and name the desired state. • Brainstorm and record restraining forces or potential barriers to achieving the desired state. • Brainstorm and record driving or positive forces that could help in achieving the desired state. • Compare both sides of the force field chart with an eye to the relative balance of driving and hindering forces.

Student Surveys(Internal Customer Surveys) • As internal stakeholders of the classroom learning system, student levels of satisfaction and dissatisfaction are important indicators of how well the system is working. • Remember, teachers and students come together in classroom learning systems to produce learning. As workers in that system, students should have regular opportunities to offer improvement input.

  43. Student Surveys(Internal Customer Surveys) Just a reminder… • Survey items should be added or deleted depending on the developmental level of the students being surveyed. • Don’t collect student satisfaction / dissatisfaction data if you’re not going to analyze it and use it.

  44. Stakeholder Surveys(External Customer Surveys) Stakeholders are those people or groups who depend on you and your students to work together to produce high quality learning.
