  1. THE MANNER OF THE MAN OF GOD Vernon S. Peters 07-27-13

  2. IN THE WORD

  3. 2Ti 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2Ti 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

  4. The most important take-away from these verses: 1. “Be Instant” There is no room to be other-wise, For it says in and out of season (be always in the Attitude of service). 2. “Make full proof of thy ministry.” The best way To show that you have a calling is by living the Exemplary life described here. Exo_23:13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect

  5. PRINCIPLESS OF PASTORAL BIBLE STUDY AND PREPARING TO PREACH THE WORD: • 2TIMOTHY 2:14: DILLIGENCE • 2TIMOTHY 3:14-17: EQUIPPED • TITUS 1:9: FILLED WITH SOUND DOCTRINE • Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, • throughly furnished unto all good works.

  6. AS A PASTOR

  7. Tit 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

  8. The man of God in dealing with issues, should remember this principle: Just like in the days of John The Baptist and Jesus and indeed Paul, you will always have people around to challenge them, not for the truth sake, but on the strength of the argument alone. 2Ti 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 2Ti 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 2Ti 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

  9. NOT TO COMPROMISE THE TRUTH: • If you know it to be the truth, present it as such.1John 2:27; 2John 1:4 • Do not appeal to those who want smooth things: Isa.30:10 • Be sure that you are not “in it for the money” Titus 1:7 • Know your audience, but don't measure the temperature.1Tim.4:3-4 • Avoid watered-down messages in these precarious times.Titus 3:9; 2Peter 1:12

  10. IN CONDUCT

  11. 2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2Ti 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

  12. Apart from his work in the desk, and over the house • of God, the man of God...must be first of all a Christianat home and in the community where he resides • (1Tim.3:5). • Though he is not called to look grim all the time, • the man of God has a responsibility to never appear • to be too loose in his behavior as others are watching • (1Tim.4:12)

  13. QUESTIONS? • What Do You Do To Ensure You Live A Circumspect Life? • What are some Bible passages that you look to for counsel? • Does it matter to you how you live before others? Further Reading: • Proverbs 4 • Psalms 1 • Psalms 27 • 1Corinthians 13 • 1John 4:6-7,16-21 • Romans 12:1-21

  14. Col 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Col 3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. www.theantidotetodeception.com/blog/pastors
