Case Study - Building Control Services Joint Venture A consortia of 4 local authorities wish to investigate the provision of joint working arrangements in respect of the management of their respective Building Control services. In particular, the authorities wish to consider a proposal to establish a single corporate vehicle for the provision of Building Control services across their administrative areas. The key drivers were providing a more efficient and effective Building Control service through economies of scale, providing consistency in service delivery, interpretation of the building regulations and other relevant legislation and fees across their districts and the opportunity for the organisation to diversify. What are the key issues for these authorities to consider at this early stage?
