Improving diagnosis • Tamavua-Twomey Lab to complete by end of July (22nd ) • Senior lab tech on attachment in Brisbane • EQA – 3/4 , CWM lab will send slides to Tamavua-Twomey • NTP sends slides to QMRL for EQA • Savusavu & Suva Hub labs planned for renovation • Lautoka & Labasa labs for refurbishment • Training on transporting sputum/slides from remote settings done June 16-17

  3. M&E • Supervisory visits by NTP office, DTBCOs – ongoing (no TB register at some SDH) (TB services, Register, lab, anti-TB meds, support services) • Joint supervisory visit planned for Sept 2011 • Take advantage of other Public health visits • Reporting & recording – final draft of forms by Friday 15 July • Reporting – Quarterly + annually

  6. TB-HIV • All 3 DOTS centers conduct HIV testing for registered TB cases (after PICT) • TB & HIV programs continue to communicate on clinical and programmatic issues • TB-HIV training manual – end of July (Sam) • Planning workshop planned for August 2011

  7. MDR-TB • DST schedule 20specimens/year (x5yrs) • Groups for DST • All retreatment cases • Contacts of retreatment cases • Cases who remain smear +ve after 2months • Cases co-infected with TB & HIV

  8. PPM • Private practitioners have been referring patients to DOTS centers • PPM dinner – 28th June • PPM MOU – for finalization before MOH-Private care facilities sign (MOH Legal officer + NTP – end of July 2011) • Referral forms distributed to GPs & Pharm

  9. Others • TB Guideline 2011 – Jul 15 • TB Strategic Plan 2011-2015 – Jul 15 • TB forms (incl. TB Register) – July 15 • PAL guidelines – end of July (Frank) • TB in Prisons – next training Lautoka (August) • TB in Children & X-ray in TB Diagnosis – Training May 2011 (next training Aug 2011) • Anti-TB medicines - FDCs ETA Aug 2011, ?stock out!
