  2. Location • The Sphinx stands on the Giza plateau on the west bank of the Nile river, next to the Pyramids of Giza, Egypt. • The Sphinx was built in 2530 BC.(not accurate) • The Sphinx was broken down, but archaeologists were able to rebuild everything except for the lost beard.

  3. Purpose • It was built by the pharaoh Khafre, the forth king of the dynasty • It was built in order to scare off thieves who would try to steal valuables from the pyramids, which worked a little, but eventually almost all of the tombs were robbed

  4. Uniqueness • This lion man structure was unique from other sphinxes because it was much larger than any other ever built, (20.22 meters tall, and 72.55 meters long).d • The structure is made entirely out of limestone, a commonly used material in Egypt. • Man hours put in – Unknown(2yrs – 27)

  5. Ancient Foresight • The sphinx is not one of the seven wonders of the Ancient world. • The sphinx does not have any parallels in use today.
