  1. reStore The reStore is a place to swap and donate used items without the need of money to reduce waste. It’s located on the second floor of Kreischer outside the Compton-Darrow side of the Sundial.

  2. Green Tailgating Green tailgating is possible with a grant from ODNR to reduce waste at home football games and other athletic events. Up to 50 enthusiastic student volunteers help at each game by driving around in golf carts and distribute recycling bags, and then collecting and sorting recyclables. In 2011, an average of 1.5 tons of recyclables have been collected at each game.

  3. Friday Night Lights Friday Night Lights is a group of student volunteers dedicated to helping BGSU conserve energy by turning off lights in academic buildings on Friday nights. In the fall semester of 2012, $6700 was saved. So far Friday Night Lights has saved over $48,700 since it began.

  4. Trash Audit Two days worth of trash from one education building was analyzed to see how much is wasted. Students counted 170 plastic bottles, 132 cans, 33 glass bottles, and 363 disposable cups! Students are now working with dining services to help reduce the amount of waste produced on campus.

  5. Orange Bikes Orange Bikes is a community bike-share program that takes old bicycles, repairs them, and makes them available to students to ride. The bicycle fleet is maintained by student volunteers, who learn the basics of bike mechanics. Volunteers are welcome!

  6. BGSU Recycling BGSU has over 900 bins at over 250 stations! Since 1994, BGSU has saved over $1 million in recyclable materials and landfill fees! BGSU also competes in RecycleMania, a friendly competition between colleges and universities to reduce our waste and promote our recycling program.

  7. Green Fund The Green Fund derives from an opt-out student fee that is used for student initiated projects, which aim towards making BGSU a more sustainable community. The Oaks’ green roof and the four water-bottle filling stations were funded partially by the Green Fund!

  8. Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Three electric vehicle charging stations are in operation on the BGSU campus. These stations were funding by the Student Initiative Green Fund and a Clean Fuels Ohio grant. By providing these three charging stations on campus, in addition to the three stations in downtown BG, BGSU is supporting the electric vehicle (EV) market. Having six available locations in BG to charge an EV will hopefully attract more to the area. Visit our website for more information about them! (go to transportation)
