NOVEMBER 16 1945 UNESCO was rose from ruins of war: • Building Peace in the minds of men and women • The Preamble to the Constitution of UNESCO declares that "since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed". • 1948: UNESCO recommends that Member States make free primary education compulsory and universal. • 1948: First OMEP’s Assembly in Prague (19 countries from 5 continents)
