  2. Chester Himes was born in 1909 in Jefferson City. He wrote192 books all his life. He was a millionaire. Chester Himes got really sick with cancer. He was the first African American to win an award in France. He got the award in 1958.

  3. Chester Himes got married in 1952. He was famous for writing novels and poems. He got a divorce and got married again. He was the son of a teacher. He wrote two volumes of an autobiography. His house burned down in 1965. The fire killed his mother.

  4. Chester Himes last book was Yesterday Will Make You Cry. He died in 1984 in Spain. After he died all his books were copied and sold for millions.
