  2. Hong Kong is located in Southeast Asia, bordering China and the South China Sea. It covers 1,054 square kilometers, which is about six times the size of Washington, DC. Its climate is a subtropical monsoon, which is cool and humid in the winter, hot and rainy in the spring and summer, and warm and sunny in the fall. Geography

  3. The terrain of Hong Kong is hilly, mountainous with steep slopes, and lowlands in the north. Hong Kong’s highest point is Tai Mo Shan at 958 meters above sea level. Hong Kong’s lowest point is the South China Sea which is at 0 meters above sea level. It is also composed of more than 200 islands. Landforms

  4. Hong Kong’s government is a limited democracy. The Basic Law, Hong Kong’s constitution, was approved by China’s National People’s Congress when it was given to China from Great Britain. Its legal system is based on the English model and the Chinese customary law. The Chief of State is, the president of China. The head of government is Chief Executive LEUNG Chun-ying.   5. The people in Honk Kong celebrate National Day which is the anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on October 1. Also, on July 1, they celebrate Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day. National Holiday

  6. Hong Kong has a free market economy, which means Hong Kong’s economy is highly depended on international trade and finance. The GDP is approximately $355.6 billion and the unemployment rate is 3.4% since 2011. They export electrical machinery and appliances, textiles, apparel, footwear, and many more. They import raw materials and semi-manufactured goods, consumer goods, capital goods, foodstuffs, and fuel. Economy

  7. The official languages of Hong Kong is Chinese and English. Cantonese, a dialect of the Chinese language, is spoken by 88% of people in Hong Kong. English is also spoken by many of the workers in Hong Kong because of the many tourists that visit each year, and many of the signs and public transportation are also written in both English and Chinese.   9. Hong Kong also has a Disneyland, filled with many rides and attractions. Unlike the other Disneylands in the world, the one in Hong Kong has a Toy Story Land in it. This is special area in the park with a bunch of special themed rides about Toy Story. Disneyland

  10. This tower stands 44 meters tall and was built in 1915. It was built to be in Kowloon-Canton Railway terminus. The station it was once in, is now gone, but the Clock Tower is still there as a monument. The Clock Tower

  11. The TsimShaTsuiPromenade is a great place to go. The Promenade passes by the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and Avenue of Stars. Also from the promenade, you will be able to see the Hong Kong Island skyline across Victoria Harbor. TsimShaTsuiPromenade

  12. Once a isolated monastery, this monastery became widely known across the world when they built the Tian Tan Buddha statue, also known as Big Buddha, in 1993. It is 33 meters tall and is facing North to China. The Big Buddha andPo Lin Monastery

  13. The Peak is the highest point in Hong Kong and has a great view over the city and Victoria Harbor. The Peak has always attracted the rich and famous to live there, because of the cooler air before air conditioning was invented. The Peak
