  1. How to succeed at STC What it takes to get going, keep going, and GRADUATE!!! by Tomas Juarez ORIN0101

  2. #1 Motivation & Attitude • The two most important things for succeeding at STC are: • Motivation – Say to yourself: “I’m going to succeed at STC because I want to, not because I have to!” • Attitude – “I’m positive, I’m cheerful and I know that I can do it!” Yes!

  3. Goal Setting & Time Management • Set meaningful and productive goals: • Short-term goals for what lies just ahead • Long-term goals for the rest of college and my life • Manage your time wisely: • Stay on top of the clock and the calendar

  4. Note & Test Taking • Take careful & complete notes • If you really need to remember it for class, write it down! • The palest ink is better than the sharpest memory. • When you take a test, remember- • Review your notes and your book • Study by yourself or in a group, whatever works best for you. • Take a deep breath, relax • Know that you will do your best.

  5. Memory & Critical Thinking • Memorize: • Make associations with what you already know. • Review and repeat & repeat & repeat • Use your mental “fork lift” to take it out of short-term memory and put it in long-term memory • Think it through: • Don’t be emotional or prejudiced • Analyze logically and completely • Use your fantastic brain!

  6. Most important of all:“Don’t Give Up!” Hang in there, baby!!!
