  • Around 100 B.C., the Roman empire took control of the place we call Spain
  • They spoke Latin and forced the population to speak it

  • It was a mix of Latin and the language people spoke in Spain before Latin
  • After 600 years, the romans were kicked out, and “vulgar Latin” evolved into Spanish
