Measurement Emphasis • Repeat of 2006 / 07 measurement programme • Improve mass closure (incl. mineral dust, especially Mediterranean countries) • Increased focus on denuder gas measurements (HNO3, NH3, SO2, NO2) • EC/OC measurements by reference technique • Vertical gradients (Lidar, balloon, towers, aircraft) • Levoglucosan (Feb), 14C • More hourly measurements (MARGA / AMS)

Planning Timetable • Now 07: Preliminary dates at present • May 07: Communication with EUCAARI & NitroEurope communities • End of May 07: Finalise dates • Sep 07: Approval by EMEP Steering Body • Oct 07 workshop: Tighten up measurement programme (in response to analysis of 2006/07 measurements) • June 08: Final plan submitted to EMEP Steering Body

  4. Use of Data of Hourly Measurements • The data are meant to be used, e.g. for model validation • But: • These were often generated by other projects • Please involve data providers in interpretation • To recognise limitations of the data • For acknowledgements

  5. Model inter-comparison based on 2006/07 data • Data ratification and full submission: aim for July 2007 • European-scale inter-comparison activity in 2008? • Joint TFMM / ACCENT activity? • Who to organise? Who to take part? • Announcement at ACCENT meeting Urbino July 2007
