  1. Sun City Yacht Club Visit17th April 2008 The latest inter Club visit by the Power Boat Section Please left click through the slides

  2. On Saturday May 17 we were invited by Sun City Yacht Club to join with them for a BBQ Lunch but this months report has nothing to do with our trip! Yes five boats, lead by our Cruise Captains Peter & Ros Hawker, left Ocean Reef in near perfect conditions and arrived in Two Rocks just over an hour later. It was a beautiful sunny day with virtually no wind and only a moderate swell. • You have to be lucky sometime!!

  3. En Route to Two Rocks with Peter and Ros in the lead- 5 boats safely undertook the dangerous passage through reef strewn seas.

  4. Entering Two Rocks Marina after a safe passage

  5. Two Rocks Marina

  6. Two Rocks Marina and the Clubhouse

  7. Maybe it was because this was the first club trip for Sindy & Craig in their new Mustang Cruiser. Most impressive! • We moored our boats in the emergency bays courtesy of the Two Rocks Chandlery and headed up to the Sun City Yacht Club for lunch. The club has completed their renovations (all done by the work of volunteers) and the result was most impressive.

  8. The ORSSC Fleet tied up at the Marina

  9. The Sun City Y.C. hospitality was again unbelievable with a smorgasbord of salads provided to have with our BBQ packs.

  10. This is what the ORSSC Power Boat section does best. Prepare to eat.An excellent BBQ courtesy of the Sun City Yacht Club

  11. Lunch time – How unusual eating , yet , again

  12. One of the two, Two Rocks and ramp car park

  13. Sun City, Commodore, Ken, welcomes the Mob from ORSSC, in their newly refurbished Club rooms.Anne in the rear of the shot appears to be tearing her hair out, all for no reason as the day went off a treat.

  14. Rear Commodore, Terry responds on behalf of the ORSSC crew- apologies for the poor shot , too much backlight even with a forced flash.Keith at the table appears to be praying- he must have known what the afternoon and next day had in store for him.

  15. At around 1400hrs it was time to say thankyou to Ken & Ann for another great afternoon with the SCYC members and get the boats headed back to Ocean Reef. • This is where my real story starts.

  16. Departing the Two Rocks Marina, in readiness for the journey home.

  17. Les and Joan

  18. Cruise Captain’s, Ros and Peter prepare to depart

  19. That mythical boat, Pisces makes another appearance

  20. Wayne and Annie

  21. Sindy and Craig in their new Mustang

  22. Ocean Reef thata way- keep the coast on the left – is that Port or Starboard- which hand do you hold the port bottle in ???

  23. Peter and Ros play chicken with a larger boat. Through the viewfinder it looked like an accident about to happen until the incoming boat made a dramatic and large turn to starboard

  24. Terry reports :- • Just after leaving Two Rocks alarms on our boat were going off everywhere and the boat was making like a bathtub with water flooding in at an alarming rate. A couple of calls for help (sorry guys if I was a bit tetchy!!) and Les & Joan Wagstaff were there to tow us back into Two Rocks where Peter the lift operator quickly had the boat out of the water for assessment of the problem. • As we were obviously not going anywhere I sent the rest of the fleet home and thought that would be that and that Linda & I would have to sort out the problem one way or another. • Not So! Keith, Liz, David & Pat (all of whom had come up by road) stayed with us whilst the damage was being assessed and then David & Pat drove us back to Hillarys to pick up our car. • On the way back I received calls from every member offering assistance including Wayne who offered to moor his boat in my pen so that I could use his trailer to get my boat back! • The damage was only a broken hose clamp that was fixed early on Sunday morning so it was Keith and Lewis to the rescue going us up to Two Rocks to pick up the boat and return with me down the coast to Hillarys. Fortunately the weather conditions were again excellent and it was a most comfortable trip. • Before leaving Two Rocks it was Keith again who saved my bacon by retrieving my car keys from the bottom of the marina. When things go wrong they really go wrong but Keith’s diving experience certainly saved the day again. • After this trip, Linda & I truly appreciate the wonderful members we have in our section of the club and when things get difficult we will always remember how lucky we are to have such great friends. • Thank you Keith, Liz & Lewis, David & Pat, Wayne & Annie, Les & Joan, Peter & Ros, Sindy & Craig.

  25. No sooner had Terry opened up his throttle than at 2.52.38 pm ,the motor was quickly shut down as Terry and Linda looked like taking a swim and we all know how Terry hates getting wet.

  26. HELP!!!!An urgent call is put out, Pisces in trouble.

  27. The faithful crewmember, Linda, is dispatched to the bow in preparation for something!!! Whilst the skipper explains his situation to all that will listen.

  28. Les and Joan respond – Post Haste

  29. The Cavalry arrives. Didn’t hear the bugles though.A very relieved Pisces crew take on a tow from Les and Joan, note once again the faithful crew on the foredeck

  30. The rescued mother hen (duck) surrounded by her chicks (ducklings or little ducks) return to harbour

  31. Gee!!! There’s a lot of water in there, where’s it coming from?

  32. The boat lifter trundles down the jetty to rescue the sinking Pisces

  33. Terry about to go down with his ship

  34. NO!!! Terry changed his mind and is now going UP with his ship

  35. Every picture tells a story!!

  36. Does that spanner have a purpose or is it a concealed weapon?

  37. The mythical “Pisces” decides not to act like her namesake fishies and rises from the water to give Terry and Linda hope that she will again float on top of the water.

  38. An obviously interesting photo of my toes and paint speckled dockside

  39. For some more details on the days excitement check out Terry’s report on the Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club website- Rear Commodores Report for May 2008. • Feel sure that the other details will be subject to repetition and embellishment over the coming months. • Contrary to what Terry indicated in his emails I did not take 8539 photos only 147 of which I selected only a few too bore you with. • Follow our exploits or participate in the Power Boat Sections future trips. They all seem to be memorable.

  40. Not enough can be said about the hospitality and friendship of the Sun City members and the Two Rocks community. It is quite amazing that on a Saturday afternoon the boat lift operator was available to lift Pisces out and a mechanic was arranged and repaired the boat on Sunday morning. In addition many people including the Two Rocks Sea Rescue were either on hand or assisted . A Big Thank You from the ORSSC power boat members.

  41. That’s All Folks until the next ORSSC Power Boat adventure.Watch this space and build up your appetite.
