Program Highlights 2007-present “Academic and Athletic Excellence” • Academics: • State Champs 2007 and 2008 and Section champs 2007, 2008, 2014,2015,and 2016. • 90% of our players are academic award winners. • 1 all state academic award winner. • 92 players have graduated from our program the last 13 years and over 90% have gone on to higher education.

Athletics Varsity 199-171 JV 194-137B squad 188-14 • SEC Champions 2010 • Section 7AAAA Champions 2010 and 2018 • Section 7AAAA second place in 2008, 2009, 2013, 2016, 2017. 19 wins and 10 losses. • 20 SEC all conference players and 1 All State player. Four 1000 point scorers. • Section 7AAAA Coach of the year 2009 and 2010, and 2018. • SEC Coach of the year 2010. • AAAA Coach of the year 2018 • Kevin Keto AAAA Assistant Coach of Year 2017

  6. Expectations “Walk your talk” • Players-practice, pre-game, game, classroom. • Staff-professional, consistent, lead. • Parents-support, encourage, model. • Compete at the highest level possible each night. !

  7. 2019-20 Team Goals . • Top 5 finish Suburban East • Top 3 seed Section 7AAAA • Compete in the Section 7AAAA championship game! • Ninety percent of our players achieve academic awards!

  8. Preparing for a season: Starts at the end of the previous season. Players exit interviews Spring, summer and fall improvement opportunities. Pre tryout meetings for coaches. Tryout format keeping in mind team goals Position, heart, head, skill and body. Obviously better than your competition. Intangibles. Compete and project. Review scenarios. What decision makes for the best team Reflection and discussion. Telling a player we do not have a team for them is not taken lightly.

Team Selections “What have I added to my game from last year that will allow me to play, contribute, be a force, dominate at the next level?” • Freshman, B Squad, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. • Highly Competitive-Heart, Head, Skill and Body. Position Expectations. • Non Selection is a very real possibility. • Goal is to put together the best teams possible. • Playing time continuum.

  11. Four Parts to a Basketball Player Heart (Motor, determination, Grit, passion) Head (Basketball IQ, Mental toughness, communication) Skill-(Shooting, passing, rebounding, defending, ball handling. Body-Basketball athleticism, movement efficiency, Hands and feet.
