  3. 1. Main objective of DT • acquire better understanding of QoS needs exercised by advanced applications • be interface between application and networking people 3

  4. 1. Main objective of DT – cont. • survey of research • study application needs: usage specific & implementation specific • guidelines for application and middleware developers • monitoring and assessment tools • simulation tools • new QoS services 4

  5. 2. Forums • group meetings • discussion forum: monthly discussion theme moderated by one member • conferences & workshops 5

  6. 3. First Internet2 Fellowship • concentrated on: • taxonomy of advanced Internet2 applications • application behavior • quantitative measure of application need • tools and experimentation procedures • produce a framework for the ongoing analysis, evaluation, and documentation of additional Internet2 applications • 6 months, start: October 2001 6

  7. 4. Future plans & call for participation • increase membership • establish tight collaboration with application and QoS groups • intensify off-line focused discussions • workshops/conferences 7
