  6. How do you Join? You will register as you would register and have registered for any offering in the MCOL system, for example for Alliance meetings. The only difference now is that before you can check out, you must answer the following survey questions.

  10. How do you Join? We hope you will register for courses and become an Alliance Member.

  11. What can I do as an Alliance member? Participate in Literacy Salons to learn more about topics impacting this field of practice. Attend quarterly meetings to hear about what is happening in the fields of literacy, workforce development and higher education. Participate in Study Circles for opportunities to engage in reflective practice opportunities. Share your expertise by facilitating professional development Network with other stakeholders in adult education Join a committee and be a part of the operation of the Alliance

  12. How will the Alliance be governed? • The Governance Subcommittee has spent the past year developing • By-Laws that govern: • Terms of Membership • Meetings • Board Roles and Responsibilities • Board Composition and Terms • Non-Discrimination Policies

  13. By-Laws • Terms of Membership • Application • Individuals or Organizations • Organizational Members designate a representative • Renewed Annually • Currently no dues

  14. By-Laws • Meetings • Quarterly Meetings of Full Membership • Annual Meeting (one of the quarterlies) with Board Elections • Those present constitute quorum

  15. By-Laws • Board Roles and Responsibilities • Helps set strategic direction of Alliance • Board members chair committees • Required to attend 75% of board meetings • Provide expertise to Alliance • Serve on ad-hoc committees as needed

  16. By-Laws • Board Composition and Terms • Composed of 7-15 board members • Board members must be affiliated with an organization serving the city of Philadelphia • Commission appoints 1 board member • 2-year Terms • Elected at Annual Meeting of Alliance Membership
