  2. “The Taxpayer” • A man identifying himself as a taxpayer demands to get on the ship to Mars. However, he misses the flight and is stuck on earth. • The Big Question • What have you missed out on that has been a big disappointment to you?

  3. “The Third Expedition” • Through telepathy, Martians trick the members of the third expedition into thinking they are their long lost relatives. They lure them into their homes and kill them. • The Big Question • How is the Martians’ ploy similar to their last treatment of earthlings? How is it different?

  4. “And the Moon Be Still as Bright” • The fourth expedition arrives on a peaceful and beautiful Mars. The Martians have all died of chicken pox. Spender kills many members of the crew because he wants to honor the Martians and study the planet. • The Big Questions • What is Bradbury saying about imperialism and government?
