  3. Highways Agency Five step approach • Usually undertake a 5 step approach which includes: • Stage 1 – Feasibility  • Stage 2 – Baseline Monitoring  • Stage 3 – FTP Development  • Stage 4 – Implementation of FTP • Stage 5 – Monitoring of FTP

  4. Steering Group for FTP • Formed Steering Group to assist and input to travel plan. Companies who have attended: • Brentford FC Chiswick Moran Hotels • GlaxoSmithKline Thames Valley University • Brompton Cycle Chiswick Park • BskyB LB Hounslow • Transport for London West London Business • WestTrans Highways Agency

  5. Baseline Monitoring – Traffic Counts • ATC’s undertaken early December 2009. • Aim to provide a sample snap–shot of trips. • Six companies agreed to counts being undertaken; • BSkyB, • GSK, • TVU, • AGFA, • Audi, • Carillion, • BSI • Additional data provided by Chiswick Park and BskyB

Baseline Monitoring – Staff Travel Surveys • Estimated 20,000 - 25,000 people work at GM. • Hoped that representative sample of staff complete surveys to provide robust data set. • Companies contacted represented approx 15,000 people (approx 60%). • Survey prizes generously donated: • 2x tour of BSkyB studios for 2 people • tickets for Brentford FC match & stadium tour • meal for two at GlaxoSmithKline restaurant • 4x £25 leisure vouchers from BSI • 3x iPod shuffles from HA.

Baseline Monitoring – Staff Travel Surveys • Administered via iTRACE system. • Significant time spent contacting/convincing companies willing to participate. • Four companies undertook staff surveys (AGFA, BSI, Audi and Carillion) • Existing survey data provided also obtained (GSK, BSkyB, TVU and Chiswick Park). • Current low response rate to iTRACE surveys (still open). • Robust data will help to identify appropriate initiatives and to measure to take forward. • ANY DATA IS STILL WELCOME! • Suggestions for increased uptake and responses in future also welcome

  12. Baseline Monitoring – Staff Travel Surveys Reminder mail-shot was sent to participating companies reminding staff to fill out the survey. It includes links to the survey and GMTG website. Prizes listed to encourage completion.

Next steps • Obtain and analyse all baseline data. • Consider an appropriate measure to implement. • Revise timeline to account for delays. • Continue to develop Framework Travel Plan (FTP). • Implement FTP. • Start to look at handing over steering group ownership / roles to member companies. • HA aim to produce/implement FTP (Year 1) and • Monitor / re-survey (Year 2)
