  2. SteppingStones of Technology2 year grant (6/1/09-5/30/11) • GOALS: • Create a 500 item kit for LSD & JMA • Evaluate the multimedia presentation and implement changes accordingly. • Evaluate the hardware. • Research best practices for using LAMBERT – i.e. group setting, teacher-directed individual setting; student-initiated play Shari Shari

  3. Kit Making and Delivering!

  4. Partners – Louisiana School for the Deaf, the Louisiana PPEP (Parent Pupil Education Program), & the Jean Massieu Academy for the Deaf

  5. Lambert in Action at LSD!

  6. Lambert in Action at JMA & with PPEP kids

  7. PPEP Feedback • Parents were very enthusiastic and most ask where they could get their own set. • The biggest finding was that the hearing siblings and peers of the Deaf child started learning sign! • The PPEP teachers wanted a longer, slower video with the ASL inserted more often. They also wanted enhanced audio for the hard-of-hearing kids. • They used the manipulatives & the pictures of the environmental words but did not put the cards on objects in the home. • Some used LAMBERT in context of the curriculum – i.e. animal sounds for HH.

  8. Special Presentations …. LAMAR University Recommendation was to include sample ASL sentences for a natural language approach.

  9. Special Presentations …. Dominican Republic …. The school uses ASL and written Spanish so we modified the sample kit for them.

  10. Website & Materials Video Library is available on the web! We also created a Developer’s Guide.

  11. Original Multimedia Preparation Created with Adobe Premier, Sign Smith Studio, Adobe Flash, & in-house software

  12. Revised Multimedia Preparation Now includes more signing, longer pauses, & sample sentences

  13. LAMBERT expansion - QUIZ Mode Although not a formal part of the grant, we have also expanded LAMBERT to work in quiz mode where a video is shown & the child must select the correct object to scan. We are currently pilot testing it at LSD.

  14. Lambert Extensions:Audio descriptions for the Blind

  15. News LAMBERT is funded through a Stepping Stones of Technology Grant . Due mostly to this project, we were awarded Technology Educators of the Year by the Louisiana Technology Council.
