  1. Serving God’s Purpose (Acts 13:13-36)

  2. King David & John the Baptizer vs. 22-2322 After removing Saul, he made David their king. He testified concerning him: 'I have found David son of Jesse a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.' 23"From this man's descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised. vs. 24-2524 Before the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of Israel. 25 As John was completing his work, he said: 'Who do you think I am? I am not that one. No, but he is coming after me, whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.'

  3. King David & John the Baptizer They served God’s purpose- preparing the way for Jesus!

  4. Acts 13:36 For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his fathers and his body decayed. • Will your epitaph be similar? • What is your purpose? How do you prepare the way for the Lord?

  5. 2 Timothy 1:8-9 (NASB) 8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God, 9who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity

  6. He saved us for His purpose not ours 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 7:23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.

  7. He saved us for His purpose not ours The biggest block from hearing God’s specific plan for our lives is when we are living for us instead of living for Him

  8. 1 Thessalonians 2:7-8, 11-12 7 we were gentle among you, like a mother caring for her little children. 8 We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. … 11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, 12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

  9. We can honor God with being good stewards of the relationships that we have

  10. Will I be able to claimwhat Jesus prayed? John 17:4, Jesus prayed: “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.”
